about me

Sharon Abbott has been dedicated to supporting Veterans through the Whole Health Tai Chi Program at the James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital in Tampa, FL, since 2019. As a Veteran herself, Sharon experienced firsthand the transformative effects of Tai Chi and Qigong in managing pain and enhancing overall well-being—an experience that sparked her passion to share these practices with others.

Her journey began with extensive personal practice and mentorship, leading her to become a Tai Chi Practitioner. She has since earned multiple instructor certifications, advancing from Certified Associate Instructor to Certified Instructor Level I, and currently holds the title of Certified Instructor Level II. Over the past six years, Sharon has played an integral role in developing and sustaining a successful Tai Chi program within the VA system.

With recent changes in the VA’s structure, Sharon now leads Community Tai Chi & Qigong for Health classes virtually via Zoom. She continues her mission to serve Veterans, their families, and the broader community through inclusive, accessible instruction.

Beyond her work with Veterans, Sharon actively participates in public wellness events that promote mindfulness, gentle movement, and holistic health. Her classes are designed to improve physical and internal balance, increase flexibility, and share the evidence-based benefits of Tai Chi and Qigong. She is known for creating a warm, supportive environment where participants of all levels can explore and enjoy the healing potential of these ancient practices.
